President Obama was heading to Congress on Wednesday to sell his $3.6 trillion budget proposal, having told Americans his battle with the profound economic crisis has the country “moving in the right direction.”
Since taking office seven weeks ago, Obama and his economic brain trust have been in seeming perpetual motion, trying to put out a recessionary economic conflagration while also pitching massive spending in the coming budget that would revamp the country’s crippling spending on health care and put the nation on a path toward energy independence.
Critics of the young administration — particularly congressional Republicans and some lawmakers in his own Democratic Party — say Obama has overreached and would drive the country into indebtedness that cannot be sustained. Click here to read more.
