Am I the only one who thinks that the residents of Linn County voting for a tax increase to help pay for the rebuilding effort after last year’s flood is a clear indication that their government has failed them? I’m sure that some people will argue with me and say that there was no serious opposition to local option sales tax initiative, but I don’t think the people really had an option. They need to rebuild their city.

I think it’s ridiculous that there wasn’t a Special Legislative Session last summer.

I think it’s embarrassing that more federal money wasn’t available for our flood victims.

I can’t believe it took weeks after the legislative session began for state funds to finally be allocated.

The good people of Linn County did what most Iowans do when times get tough, they get it done themselves. I have not had time to research this, but did the people of New Orleans need to pass tax increases to rebuild their city after Hurricane Katrina? I don’t think so.

Matt Straw hits the phones!

Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Matt Strawn sent out an auto call last night. He was asking Republicans to make the box on their Iowa tax returns that gives the State Party $1.50. Marking the box doesn’t mean you pay more in taxes, it means the state get’s less!

Krusty Kudos to Strawn, he gets it.

Speaking of Strawn…

Dude holds a press conference at the State Capitol on the idiotic Electoral College bill and the next thing you know both the Secretary of State and the Governor come out against the proposal. It’s about time we put this stupid issue behind us. We have more important things to deal with. I wonder if I can talk Matt into going to the capitol for a press conference on the Gas Tax?

New Digs

I still want a few more custom features, but this site is top notch. I’m happy to be part of it.
