Governor Chet Culver and Secretary of State Mike Mauro both came out yesterday against a bill that would have awarded the Iowa’s electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote nationally. SF 227 was passed out of committee of February 23rd.
Republicans have been highly critical of the proposal. Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Matt Strawn held a press conference yesterday calling on Democrats leaders to Keep Iowa Relevant in Presidential Elections.
