CRSOn Sunday, 40 college students from 9 different colleges traveled to Republican Party of Iowa Headquarters for the annual Iowa Federation of College Republicans Christmas Troop Care Package Party. The event was an opportunity for our organization to give thanks and show our appreciation for the sacrifices made by our American troops as they miss their families this Christmas.

Students from Buena Vista, Cornell College, Drake University, Iowa State University, Muscatine Community College, Simpson College, the University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa, and William Penn University collected supplies in their communities in the month leading up to the event and were on hand to pack up over 45 boxes and over $2,000 worth of supplies. These supplies including snacks, DVDs, books, batteries, and many other basic goods to help our American troops celebrate the Christmas season. The boxes will be shipped to the 132nd Fighter Wing and 294th Medical BN.

Students were also treated to visits by RPI Chairman Matt Strawn, Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey, Auditor David Vaudt, and Iowa Reps. Erik Helland and Chris Hagenow, as well as 3rd district congressional candidate Pat Bertroche.

IFCR would like to thank the public for their support for our organization during this activity, and even more importantly for supporting the troops during the Christmas season.
