Leonard Boswell is a pathetic excuse for a congressman. I have never in my life seen such a weak kneed politician who will publically change their position so they can avoid confrontation with their constituents.
Just ten days ago, Congressman Leonard Boswell stood in front of a town hall meeting in the small rural town of Sigourney, Iowa. The room was packed with his constituents, most of whom were opposed to government run healthcare. At that meeting Boswell sided with his audience despite contradicting what his website said.
At the time, Boswell said he didn’t know if he could support single payer system because there wasn’t a “final bill,” but now even with Congress in recess and no final bill in sight, Boswell has changed his tune and is now supporting government run healthcare, and he predicts that a bill will pass before the end of the year.
So what caused Boswell’s 180 degree turn on the issue in less than 10 days? His audience.
While his town hall meeting in Sigourney was full of local constituents, President Obama’s political arm, Organizing for America, made sure to pack Boswell’s Des Moines town hall with hundreds of health care reform supporters from across the state. Boswell obviously knew the make-up of his audience and told them what they wanted to hear.
Today, another part of President Obama’s political arm, the Des Moines Register, writes a story about the town hall that only depicts one side of the argument. Nowhere in the Register’s article is one person who is opposed to government run health care even mentioned. The Register also failed to note Boswell’s flip-flop on this issue from his previous town hall meeting.
You know, I’ve never really understood what a Blue Dog Democrat was until now. I guess it’s a Democrat member of Congress who will do tricks for anyone as long as they get a treat. That is the only thing that can explain why Leonard Boswell rolled over and played dead in his town hall in Sigourney, but did the agility course at his Des Moines town hall meeting.
We did learn one thing, Blue Dog Boswell tucks tail and wets himself when his pack leader, President Obama, sends out the troops to make sure he obeys his master.
If you couldn’t make it to Congressman Boswell’s town hall meetings click here to ask him a question. The Boz will immediately answer any question, and from what I’ve seem it’s the same response he gives to people in person. Check it out.
