I’ve given out “Tough Chick” awards before, but that that just doesn’t seem big enough to describe what some women endure in this world.
26-year-old Neda Soltan has become the face of the martyrs of the resistance in Iran. Neda was tragically murdered while protesting the elections results in Iran, which many feel were rigged.
Pictures of Neda bleeding and dying are circulating. This is a gruesome thing to see, but these images of this innocent young woman are uniting the resistance movement in Iran and supporters of the resistance movement around the world.
Her family had planned a funeral ceremony for her, but the government prohibited them from holding any funeral. In fact, it prohibited anyone from gathering to mourn her anywhere.
Neda’s death appears to be the impetus for outcry against Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the first time protester have been so bold as to denounce the religious leader by name.
I find it pretty cowardly that our President won’t even speak out in support of fair elections while unarmed women are being slaughtered in the street, just for standing up for democracy. So much for being the leader of the free world.
